At 8:00 a.m., the driver will pick you up at your hotel or residence in order to start this memorable and unmissable day.
On the way, after crossing Saint Pierre and Le Tampon, we will pass the small village of Bourg Murat: the cows are resting pleasantly in this green meadow. We are now gradually entering the domain of the Volcano.
We continue to go up: the freshness and the mysterious atmosphere of the volcano forest are already beginning to disorient us.
First slap: an essential break at the “Nez de Bœuf” to admire the magnificent panoramas of the “Rivière des Remparts” and the “Cafres plain”.
We will then make a stop at the Commerson crater: an ancient explosive crater dating back 2000 years. The belvedere overlooking the void at 235 meters is a crazy natural scene!
We then continue our journey to arrive in the magnificent “Sand Plain”, a volcanic desert thousands of years old: the power of nature in front of us.
We have the chance to set foot in a unique terrestrial place which looks to a Martian landscape.
10:30 a.m.: “Pas de Bellecombe”. This is the last place we can access by car. Beyond, extends the kingdom of the volcano “Piton de la Fournaise”, culminating at 2632 meters above sea level.
* Formica Léo hike option: A short 1.5 hour hike to reach the Formica Léo crater at the bottom of the cliffs is possible: the lava of the volcano will be under your feet! If you choose this option, we suggest a departure from the hotel at 7:00 a.m. and the duration of the day will be 9/10 hours.
12:00 p.m.: a typical Creole meal awaits us with friendliness.
After the meal, we will visit the Volcano Museum. Both instructive and fun, the volcano museum reveals all the volcanic secrets of Reunion Island! Pleasant, informative and family-friendly presentations will capture your attention!
We then return calmly back to your hotel or residence.
